Hawaii Laie Temple

  

Many occasions are celebrated with leis.  The gold lei above is called a ilima lei.  Each rope is made up of 600 flowers.  It was given to Molly by a woman she met at Curves where she exercises at 6:00 AM weekday mornings.  Dorothy wanted to welcome Molly to the island.

After the meeting Elder White and his district prepared Navajo Tacos for everyone.

Kaneohe Zone 16 at the USS Missouri for a service project in July.  We painted, sanded and stained benches, set up displays, polished brass and cleaned display cases.

July 6th marked a milestone for Jake Williams Davis when he was baptized by his dad, Brian in Phoenix, AZ.

Isaac at six weeks old.  After Grandma Fordham and Aunt Cindy Odum went home, Olivia told her mom that she did not want to be a big sister any more because mom was spending too much time with the baby.

The Young Single Adult Branch frequently holds a linger longer after church.  These functions are always well attended.

One way we try to serve the young single military members is to treat them to Sunday dinner at our apartment.  It is a bit of a challenge with no stove, but with the use of a hot plate, toaster oven, microwave oven and the neighbors oven and grill we manage to provide a home cooked meal.  One young man commented "This is sure better than the chow hall."

After dinner they enjoy playing games and visiting.

Tony (Navy-Submariner), Stephen (Marine-Infantry), Genevieve (Marine-Helicopter Mechanic), Christian (Marine-Infantry from Cache Valley, Utah) and Thomas (Navy-Medical Corpsman).  Thomas is leaving for the MTC and his mission to Kentucky the end of July.

Tony (Navy and a convert of two months), Preston (Air Force-Security Police), Jake (Marine-Infantry-just arrived on the island),  Genevieve (One of our favorites),  Sam ( visiting his brother), Michael (Navy-Submariner), and Josh (Marine-Infantry).  We will miss Josh as he is leaving for Quantico, Virginia for training to become an Embassy Guard.

Thirty years ago our son, Brian, had an opportunity to help place flags on all the graves.  This year our neighbor friend, Ben, had the same opportunity.  Leis are also placed on the graves.

A closer look at the Ginger plant revealed this green lizard.

One evening we walked out to get in the car and a peacock was on the roof of the house.

Some evenings we are treated to beautiful sunsets over Kaneohe Bay.

Isaac was born May 27, 2013 and came home with his adoptive family, Brigham, Sally and Olivia on May 29, 2013,  Issac had his day in court before heading for home in Phoenix, AZ.

Sally sent this picture of  Olivia and Isaac and labeled it

"The best big sister in the world."

We are looking forward to meeting our new grandson.

It is a blessing to serve with other senior missionaries in the Hawaii Honolulu Mission.

On the Island Wide Mormon Helping Hands day we assisted the Young Single Adult Branch cleaning rubbish from one of the many beaches on Oahu.
